peace, warmth, and welcome:
crafting a beautiful space to welcome airbnb guests to their home away from home
Here at Veradek Outdoor, we seek to provide helpful outdoor living information and inspiration to our DIY-minded community. We've discovered that we never have to look far to find that the best inspiration, and that's why we love featuring amazing creations that come from all of you! Today, we pick Brittney Bremnes' brain about how she and her husband designed a backyard oasis to welcome their guests. Can you describe your backyard before the transformation?
Our backyard looked like a dry, dusty, brown patch, haha! We did a large renovation on our house where we basically stripped everything down to the beams, so our backyard turned into a dirt pile during that process. That eventually encouraged us to reno the yard.
What was the reason for your transformation?
We own an Airbnb in the back part of our house, which is why we wanted people to feel welcome when they walk up to their suite. I want everyone who comes to our home to feel a sense of peace—like a warm hug—as soon as they walk onto our property; our yard plays a big role in that!
Veradek's Corten Steel Garden Bed Planters
When planning your space, what were some of the main considerations?
We wanted something that wasn’t too hard to maintain since we travel a lot, so a rock garden with lots of grass was our number one choice. I love the way that grass flows and sounds when the wind blows. Movement was important for our garden since it’s mainly rocks.
What are some of your favourite details about Veradek Outdoor's Corten Steel products?
I love how easy they are to set up and how you get to see it before and after it rusts. The process of watching it change is enjoyable to watch. These garden boxes are basically the foundation of what makes our garden pop—without them it would look plain. The products are high quality and the customer service is out of this world!!
If you had to use 3 words to describe the style of your transformation, what would they be?
Peaceful, warm, quality.
Can you share 1 pro tip for designing an outdoor space?
I'm definitely no pro, but I would say choose your garden boxes and allow the rest to follow. You will always find the right plant for it, and you can always change a plant out if you want, which is the beauty of it. But the garden box is the most important part because it’s where it all starts.
What is your go-to backyard anthem for 2022?
Relax, enjoy, and rest.
What are some of your favourite elements?
I love how simple it is. It’s easy on the eyes, yet it’s peaceful. I love the color of the rusted Corten Steel—it flows so nicely with the rocks and the rest of the yard.

I bought two screens to cover my air conditioning unit from my deck! Works great but now I want to conceal the front. Do you have corner attaching brackets?
If so can you tell me the cost?
