about the designer

Tara’s love for plants started young, inspired by her father’s green thumb and a home filled with leafy companions. After years running a destination event company, she returned to her roots—literally—by founding Plantd Life, a Toronto-based plant design studio. Tara believes in the power of plants to transform how we live, work, and feel. Her approach is all about blending beauty and biophilia, creating spaces that inspire calm, creativity, and joy.

For her fall-inspired arrangement, biophilic designer Tara Soloway used the Patina Kona Series planters to create a warm, grounded composition that reflects the richness of the season. Ornamental grasses add height, texture, and soft movement, while fiery red celosia introduces a bold burst of colour. Fresh rosemary completes the design with an edible, fragrant touch. Together, these elements form a balanced and inviting trio that celebrates fall’s natural tones while feeling fresh, functional, and connected to nature.

Grasses and heathers in cozy mocha and latte tones stand out against the planters’ neutral cream finish, evoking warmth and sophistication. Cool-toned decorative cabbage and kale bring balance, rounding out the design with organic structure and effortless elegance—an elevated celebration of autumn’s quiet beauty.

Tiffany Mah’s arrangement brings together an artful mix of colour, texture, and resilience to capture the vibrancy of fall. Using the “filler, spiller, thriller” design principle, she combined Chrysanthemums, Celosia, and Ornamental Peppers for striking structure and seasonal warmth, complemented by Ornamental Kale, Cabbage, and Chartreuse Sedum for contrast. Trailing ivy and Carex ‘Frosted Curls’ soften the edges, while Purple Fountain Grass and Blue Anise Sage introduce height and rhythm where space allows. Each planter is thoughtfully composed for both beauty and function, creating a layered, enduring display that celebrates fall’s abundance.
